Controversial Blog Post About Imee Marcos And A London Incident Is Spreading Online

A blog post by a humanitarian aid worker about her encounter with Imee Marcos in London when the latter's late father Ferdinand Marcos was still President of the Philippines is starting to make its rounds online. The one who wrote the article is Caroline Kennedy (not be confused with John F. Kennedy's daughter) describes herself as a "Mother, writer, humanitarian aid worker, theatre director, sometime actress and inveterate traveller."
In the article which she wrote and published in her blog way back in 2010, Kennedy narrates an incident in London when she was given the responsibility to welcome Imee and Tommy Manotoc, Imee's husband at that time. Ferdinand Marcos was President of the Philippines back then. Kennedy and a few people were to welcome Imee and Tommy at the Adelphi Theatre for an event.

Kennedy was very aware then of the Marcos family's alleged corruption and power-tripping in the Philippines. But she said in the article that she couldn't believe her eyes when Imee and Tommy finally arrived at the Adelphi Theatre. They were not only very late but they arrived with an army of uniformed men carrying armalites. Imee and Tommy arrived with seven stretch black limousines.

Here's part of Kennedy's account of the London incident:
"Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, seven stretch black limousines rolled up outside the theatre. Doors flung wide open and uniformed men, carrying armalites, spilled out onto the pavementt. I watched in horror as some of the armed minders rushed inside and others surrounded the perimeter, effecting a cordon sanitaire around the theatre. And, when they decided the venue was safe, they snapped their fingers, whispered into their walkie-talkies and nodded the go-ahead for Imee and Tommy to emerge.

By this time people in the street had stopped dead in their tracks. They stared incredulously, probably wondering who on earth deserved such a massive security operation. I, too, couldn’t believe my eyes. This was like finding myself in a cheap gangster movie."

Kennedy also narrated how she was curious about Imee leaving her baby (she was supposed to be breastfeeding at the time) and traveling in Europe. She got her answer from Imee's sister Irene later that summer when Irene told her that President Ferdinand Marcos would send a plane from the Philippines to wherever Imee was in Europe to get her milk and back.

Kennedy ended her article with the following paragraph:
"Now I understood why all my friends had been complaining during that time that all the Philippine Airlines flights to Europe had either been delayed or cancelled. The solution was obvious. The presidential dairy run was abducting the planes and flying Imee’s precious breast milk back to Manila. This is when it really dawned on me that the Marcoses lived on a totally different planet to the rest of us."

  2. Wow-if this is true, the Marcos family really don't have any shred of morality. Such an evil person! The money spent could have made a difference to the lives of the poor Filipinos.

  3. What morality are you talking about. These people are legitimately rich beyond compare so they can afford it. It is not the peoples money so their sense of morality is clean. They spend their own money for the benefit of everybody so what is wrong with that?

    3. Hey Rudcarlyn, it does not take a math genius to estimate Marcos income taking into consideration his capacity as an A-one lawyer, a senator, a president, etc. He cannot have a billion peso income all those years and what wealth did Marcos have before he became president? Get your facts right
